AGNT held another
wonderful conference October, 2003.
For the first time, the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) was a
sponsor. The theme was
“Awakening a Global Vision: Collective Wisdom and Spiritual
Activism”. The 2000 plus
people attending had the opportunity to hear leading edge thinkers from
both the New Thought and the scientific communities sharing thoughts and
ideas.
The fact that we are
at a critical point in human history and the history of the world was
mentioned by many speakers. Lynn
Twist, the chairperson of IONS, made a statement that became something
of a mantra for the conference when she said that we must “hospice
the old and midwife the new”. Said
another way, we don’t need to fight the old beliefs, traditions and
ideas. They are dying on
their own. We simply need
to be compassionate with them in their dying.
We also heard confirmation that the scientific breakthroughs of
the last couple of decades fully support the New Thought Spiritual
Philosophy: we are all
interconnected with one another; we are in an evolving
relationship with the universe. We
do influence the future by our thoughts and actions. How we, collectively, choose to think and act will influence
our collective fate. |

Dr. Bonnie Hood Weaver who also attended
the conference wrote the following in a letter to the editor of the IONS
Magazine SHIFT. Here is an
excerpt from her letter: “At
the IONS / AGNT conference we sang together and laughed together.
We danced and moved our entire bodies, we listened intently to
brilliant speakers, and expanded our minds; we met lovely new people who
touched our ears, soothed our emotions, and became new friends.
We nourished our souls through loving spiritual words,
meditation, prayers, and union with the Divine.
So how do you explain a conference that affects your entire being
to the core, one that moves you to go forth and contribute to making our
planet a peaceful home for all of us, and to do greater things to make
it happen. It’s
difficult, but you try to be it. You begin with yourself.
I know I am different because of this conference experience. I feel different. I
radiate something different. What
is it? I am not sure
because I believe it is ineffable.
If you didn’t experience the conference this time, well, then
maybe next time.”
Bonnie
has put into words what many of us felt.
I encourage you to attend the next AGNT Conference scheduled this
fall.
