Looking inward and reaching out:  The Interfaith experience

Here in the Twin Cities we like to think of ourselves as progressive and accepting of diversity.  After 9/11/2001, many Muslim women here were afraid to leave their homes, for good reason: some were attacked, conspicuous in their hijab. Unless we live on a mountaintop, we are bombarded daily by vitriol in the name of truth, as government and some religious leaders promulgate fear, equating Islamists with terrorists. Continuing tensions in the Middle East polarize conscientious Jews and Muslims.  In this climate, how do we come together to share faith traditions and beyond that, to realize that “the other” is not “the other” after all?

At the April MAGNT meeting we will have the opportunity to experience and discuss the discomfort as well as understanding and deep sense of connection that can occur between people of different faith traditions. We will explore the potential for balance between spiritual introspection and community engagement. Information will be provided about current efforts at Interfaith work in the Twin Cities. Attendees are invited to bring a poem, reading, song, piece of art or relic to share that signifies the sacred for them.

This Saturday’s gathering will be facilitated by Jane Johnson a member of MAGNT.

Saturday MAGNT meetings are free and open to the public. No need to pre-register. Just come and be warmly included.  MAGNT, the Minnesota chapter of the Association for Global New Thought, offers activities to expand consciousness. Its purpose is to inspire, inform and empower people to create an awakened world. MAGNT is supported by local Unity and Religious Science churches.

Come to learn, ask questions, engage in a spirited conversation with the group, and, perhaps, make a declaration to the entire Universe!

We look forward to seeing you:
